What do you do if your project is not meeting the needs of the community?

My innovation goals always had a component that sought to impove the lives of those around me and in the community at-large. It was the reason that I was attracted to the field of nutrition. Literally, you can make adjustments for your clients that can dramatically change their physical performance. If your project is not meeting the needs of the community, then there is possibly a flaw in the original plan. In my field, no solution operates in a silo - - you actions, your plans, your objectives reverberates on everything around it. You must modify your plan for the betterment of the community (particularly through improvement of health.)

It is crucial to begin any project by identifying the final segment of the population that will receive it. Ignoring the final recipient could be extremely dangerous, and assuming that a project will work in one community just because it worked in another is even more dangerous. In this technology-driven era, communities change rapidly, and depending on the project's complexity, it may take some time to complete. Therefore, it is essential to have not just one plan, but several, and it is crucial to have a team that is fully involved in each stage of the project to monitor the progress. If a plan fails, having another one ready to activate immediately is vital.

It often happens that we find our self in a situation where the project is not meeting the needs of the community. 1) In this situation the best solution is to stop. and rethink. 2) Ask yourself and the team what is the final goal and where are we headed. 3) Look around you and introspect the outcome of your actions. It is often difficult to stop and think, look around. More often than not we do not want to go back and start over with in a different direction. However it is what needs to be and what will get the results we want.
