What do you do if your programming productivity is suffering due to poor time management?

While estimating we should also take into account the time which we will be spending to help and unblock other team members especially when we are at a senior level. I have seen people suffering from poor management when they don't factor in the time involved in mentoring and unblocking others

1. Prioritize tasks: Identify the most important and urgent tasks that need to be accomplished and focus on those first. Use techniques like Eisenhower Matrix or ABC analysis to prioritize your work. 2. Break down tasks: Divide complex programming tasks into smaller, more manageable subtasks. This makes them less overwhelming and allows you to make progress incrementally. 3. Set specific goals: Clearly define what you want to achieve with each task or programming session. Setting specific, measurable goals can help you stay focused and motivated.

Plan you day in such a way that you get sprints of focus time where you are just doing your work and not checking any emails/slack/ social media. This will help you to fast pace you work and then you can take time out for other stuff

Multitasking for a human brain is more like running multiple threads on a single CPU than it is like running multiple processes on a multi-core machine. In other words, our brains are incapable of multitasking. Slack notifications, text messages, and switching windows to check Facebook while your tests run all have a switching cost as our brain context switches between tasks. Turn off all notifications, put on noise cancelling headphones, turn on Brian Eno's Music for Airports album, and type. But, don't forget to walk away. Our brains have a focused mode and a diffuse mode. When you get stuck you need diffuse mode. Diffuse mode involves letting your mind wander. This mode is less productive, but much more creative.

When code is clean and simple, it promotes readability and reduces the likelihood of errors or bugs. So while writing code, you should adhere to established conventions and best practices, such as meaningful variable names, consistent formatting, and modular design principles. Prioritizing clarity and simplicity in code promotes better scalability, extensibility, and overall software quality.

Been there done that. I neglected my health for a long time which resulted in back, neck and other bodily issues. What I feel is instead of regretting at later stages we should make it a habit to take care of ourself/posture/hydration while working
