There is a misconception that success for a project manager is about delivering on time and on budget. While this is a nice thing to do it's not what the project manager should focus on. The best project managers focus on the value that they are supposed to deliver and what is necessary to achieve that value (criteria for success). A PM that delivers on time and under budget but fails to deliver the value is a failure. A PM that consistently delivers value is a success. A PM who consistently delivers value will be trusted and allowed to run over time and over budget if that is what is needed to deliver value.

My strong advice is to know and trust in your own personal values. Everything else you truly want will follow in good time.

Project Quality as well as Product Quality are both important. Project Management courses teach both. Product quality by example is my renovated kitchen looks fantastic.
