What do you do if your product feedback reveals areas for professional growth?

All feedback is good feedback, as they say whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger! Lean six sigma was helpful in acknowledging that rapid feedback is the best - in manufacturing, in engineering and other developments. Faster iteration cycles and reduced waste. Embracing feedback is essential, but as a Product Manager, it is also vital to do a sel-analysis of your work and identify what feedback is constructive to you as a professional. In my ten years of experience as a Product Manager, depending on the company's size, embracing all feedback won't improve your work. So, identify the authentic sources that are aligned with you in making things happen and embrace them. Don't take things personally; remain self-driven to bring valuable products and results. By identifying your trustworthy sources of feedback, you can help you grow the skills you identified with your reliable sources to be a better professional. Life/career are continuous improvement. We should never stop learning.

- Upon identifying areas for professional growth through product feedback, it's essential to set clear and SMART goals. - For instance, if feedback indicates a need for better analytics skills, I would set a goal to complete a analytics certification within the next six months. - By setting specific and achievable goals, I create a structured plan of action to guide my professional development journey.

After embracing, the next step is whatever feedback is coming, we start the work using it with the help of SMART. Because if we do not change in time then it will impact the application and also user behavior also impacts on some while. So we take action as soon as possible. We start work on product ux following ui and backend part of application. Sooner we take steps then respond comes faster, if any change needs then repeat the process. Mostly we follow the agile framework for doing this.

There are multiple ways to engage in professional learning - a formalized post-professional program, virtual courses on specific platforms by function, generalized courses on platforms such as LinkedIn Learning, and self-guided study such as through books/TEDTalks/etc. Which path you choose depends on your available time, investment, and your specific goals. Formalized programs through universities often offer accredited certificates and can create large networks of like-minded individuals. Specialized virtual programs or courses (such as "product marketing" or "UX fundamentals") on platforms like Product School can be good options, though more expensive than generalized courses through LinkedIn Learning or General Assembly.

Remaining open-minded to new learnings and seeking out mentors are pivotal for personal development. Embracing fresh perspectives and guidance empowers continual growth and fosters invaluable insights along the journey of self-improvement. Every day is a new opportunity to learn

Often feedback can be centered around- functional skills, technical skills, domain skills, interpersonal skills or communication skills. Understand which area the feedback is predominantly aimed at, and focus on finding resources that address that gap. Understand which skills are needed to get better in that area, and in addition to books, you could leverage you tube videos and podcasts.

Consider that your product success may be limited due to your perspective, current knowledge and skillset. Diversify your learning sources from time to time, and review your belieth system if you want to keep abreast of trends and disruptive technologies.

Collabs are an important factor for any product growth. Because at that time we discussed so many parameters related to the product and according to the expertise the person advised you how to measure the product problems before being caught by any customer. During collaboration or take any mentorship regarding product development and growth you will increase your confidence and also it helps on product improvement.

4/6: Collaborate and Mentor: Collaborate with UX designers within your team to understand best practices and seek mentorship from a seasoned UX professional who can offer personalized advice and guidance on improving app navigation.

On top of working with your team, I would strongly recommend seeking inputs and advice from completely different departments. Simplify the description of the project/issue and talk about it with people whose mindset you value. This is where I find my best inspiration.

Agile attitude and learning mindset helps to develop an environment where product team is open to innovation and not afraid of failure before prototyping.

5/6: Implement Changes: Based on the knowledge gained from the UX course and mentorship, implement changes such as redesigning the app's navigation menu, simplifying user flows, and conducting usability testing to ensure the improvements meet user needs effectively.

The wrong thing would be to consider changes to the process as a kind of ‘version release’ for the team itself. This risks the landscape changing before you complete all changes. Instead, identify a couple of dependencies and then implement one change, however small, and advertise the benefits internally. This will grow excitement and a change mindset can n the team, where others may contribute great improvements too. Don’t just do it quickly, do it now.

After getting feedback from your customers how quickly you start working on it. Because during product usage lots of attention is needed on that product both development side and also customer side. With simultaneously discussed with product stakeholders and investors for whatever feedback given by customers. So when we implement the changes means we take it seriously and customer behavior also increases by our instant step.

Although retrospective meetings are for team reflection, you can use them for your self-reflection. Personally, I prefer the sailboat and starfish questions over the regular questions for what is working and what needs to be improved. Keep in mind that reflection might identify areas that you will need to act on if you want changes.

This step looks too isolated to me: the change was implemented with people from other departments (Legal, Supply, production, etc). Do not forget a "Lesson's learned" after what most people consider the end of the project. There is always another project or another product, whether in the same company, whether with you or not, keep the heat of the moment to highlight good practces and mistakes to avoid.

For instance, organizing hackathons or innovation days where team members can work on projects outside their regular responsibilities can lead to unexpected breakthroughs and solutions.
