What do you do if your problem-solving abilities are hindering your chances of a promotion?

In my pursuit of a promotion, I realized my rapid problem-solving was stifling team development. Reflecting on past projects, I noticed a pattern: I often swooped in to solve issues, neglecting team input. Recognizing this, I adjusted my approach. Instead of providing answers, I empowered team members to brainstorm solutions collectively. The results were remarkable—enhanced collaboration, innovative ideas, and empowered team members. This shift not only improved project outcomes but also showcased my leadership potential, paving the way for my well-deserved promotion.

A Promotion has 2 aspects - 1st it mean that one is ready to do the next level of job, and 2nd which is even more important and often not noticed is that a promotion means the people under you is ready to take over your job. So a problem solving skills can be hindrance if its not good enough for next level, and if our problem solving skill was too much and so we didn't allow our next in line to grow to solve problems. So while I learn to grow, I ensure my next line is experience the problem skills with me and developing own skill by taking up challenges and ready to take my position and I'm ready for next level.

Everything we do has a learning and i would reach out to my network of colleagues and managers to assess where and how I could get better.. understand perspectives and then tailor my approach which would benefit everyone.. Feedback exchange is a wonderful learning opportunity and the best to consider!!!
