Confident, clear and compelling communication asks that we be predictable in structure but unpredictable in delivery. The SCQA framework and Minto Pyramid are two excellent tools to be crystal clear with your story telling and ideas. They're also great because they leave some space to do a presentation that comes off as prepared but not rehearsed. Hit up Youtube for these two tools. I use them for all my presentation coaching clients and they continue to serve them well no matter what the medium.

Interaction is the best way to drive engagement with your audience, but is typically harder to do so virtually than in person. Putting up polls and quizzes is one option, but I often find that that tends to interrupt the flow and can be a little off-putting to the audience. Creating a strong dialogue in the chat feature is a great alternative to in-person dialogue- it may help to have someone you know in the audience and ask them to be on point to be driving chat conversation. Something else that can help is finding opportunities to use breakout rooms - encouraging small group conversation.

Recording yourself is very helpful when you don’t have others who can critique you. Watching yourself back can be very awkward at first, but it allows you to understand how you are coming across - does your tone make sense, are you pausing enough, are you looking at the camera, were there any places where you stumbled in your explanation, etc.? This has the added bonus of helping you identify any potential audio or visual glitches ahead of time.

After your virtual presentation or interview, the follow-up is just as important as the event itself. Send thank-you emails to the organizers or interviewers, restating your interest and summarizing key points from your discussion.
