What do you do if your plant engineering methods are not yielding efficient results?

Vaccuum distillation system. Learned that how much evaporation to be distilled doesnot matter.Just condensate every drop of liquid, so no load impact on vaccum. So asses the rate of evaporation and so plan to condensate more than evaporate

Consultant may give you insight on things you missed or strengthen your conviction for countermeasure. However it is best not to rely on consultants 100% as they are only advising. You as process owner should decide whats best for your process with their advise.

Raising film evaporation of tolune. Dumb consultant suggested to use ground water to condensate solvent vapour thr heat exchangers to save cost at RO water utilization. Boss trust him and force to chnage lines. Ultimately we lost lot of tolune to atmosphere. Some times our thinking and knowledge is better than consultants. According to me so called consultants get information from us and teach same thing to us just like monkey story.

Rate of evaporation. yes change the system from tube heat exchanger to plate heat exchanger will improve alot as we can get lot of surface area in small location. Vaccum systems also help alot.
