I dont even know why this needs to be said. If a client objects to something, sure as hell you move on. I put models in precarious positions all the time. I recognize that. But I always do it first, show them what I want, and then I ask if they feel comfortable with that. Then, and this is SUPER IMPORTANT, I ask if they are comfortable doing that, and I tell them straight up that "No" is an acceptable answer. No photograph is worth endangering someone. EVer.

The photographer always directs. If the subject begins to want to suggest to the photographer what to do the confusion begins. The roles must be clear: if the subject has agreed to be photographed, he/she must trust the photographer and let him do his job. When a subject is difficult, we must try to find the action that best fits the limitations of the situation while trying to maintain a good atmosphere. Sometimes, the best solution is to say "Good idea!" and take two pictures as the subject suggests. The subject will feel taken care of and calm down, then we can take our "variation" The important thing is to know how to put our subjects at ease and direct them with courteous firmness.
