One of my new gimmicks is "slow productivity." It sounds weird at first. But hear me out. I am not the type of person to work 8-9 hours straight. I couldn't be a Nurse working 12-hour shifts (mad respect btw), or a first responder, or anything. It's not that I couldn't do the job. It's more about how focused and energized could I stay throughout it. What I'm trying to get at here is that everyone's different. And you should listen to your body. I'm blessed to run my own agency which gives me the flexibility to work in 2-3 hour sprints. This works for me and I can perform at a high level. Always listen to your body and find what works for you.

All of these are good things, but it eventually relates to both a “long view,” and a boundaries issue. Sometimes, when you were a junior person in a field, you will have to work harder and longer than other people. Many people call this “paying your dues.” Others call it the “price of admission.” The key to ultimate success, though, is being efficient enough at your profession so that those extra hours of work can be spent on YOU, rather than work. The better and more skill you get, the more time you will have.
