What do you do if your organization in Social Impact is struggling to attract and retain top talent?

We implemented a slew of quality of life benefits such as hybrid-work, a four-day work week, a sabbatical program, mental health and professional development funds. These were often pointed to as important indicators of how we viewed work/life balance and supported our staff.

workplace culture is the key...to just about everything. Assuming salary and benefits are competitive it comes down to, as Gallup surmises "how we do things around here." When an organization has strong values that are known, understood, and practiced at all levels of leadership and with team members, it radiates out to customers and the general public. Word of mouth is still an incredibly valuable way to promote an organization. Positive work culture attracts potential candidates to an organization, validates their impressions through communication with current employees, and raises the chances they will persist once hired. Multiple work locations has created new challenges but also new opportunities for reinventing workplace culture.

The nonprofit field is famous for low salaries but it doesn't have to be the case. If you're a leader, how might you advocate for bigger checks and bigger grants to shift your organization and the field as a whole. With pressures to maintain "low overhead" for nonprofits, we've fallen into a world where too often, our nonprofit employees are struggling to have their basic needs met. Communicating why it's important for funders to care for your people as part of the impact you make in the world is crucial.

There are definitely solutions for attracting and retaining. To attract is always what they directly see or know about organization as in benefit- remuneration with additional benefits, make sure we are paying at least with development sector market standards( appropriate), different slabs as per experience 2 years, 5 years, 8 years, relevant experience give more, worked in similar project consider more salary. Mention this is job ads. Value creation of organization- create an healthy competitive, all end inclusive, talent proliferative environment that people experience it and they talk it out on social media, to friends and to other organisations about good culture in your place. That will attract the right people To retain- appraise well

Having your employees contribute toward a shared mission amd vision AND giving them the opportunity to shape it is the first step toward enhancing culture. * Do your people have the opportunity to try themselves out in other parts of your organisation? Can you offer that to them? * Feedback is important - it gives an opportunity to share encouragement, as well as opportunities for growth. Mentoring. This can create a supportive environment, and opportunities for personal growth. * Wellbeing - how do you encourage self-care, mental health, collective care? Whilst the lack of resources many times doesn't allow to provide it all, start in small: - mentoring within the organisation - knowledge sharing among departments - flexible schedule

Les séminaires qui ont été organisés dans mon organisation ont été à chaque fois des moments décisifs pour échanger avec le reste des équipes et souder les collaborateurs, et créer une bonne dynamique. Une bonne pratique est aussi d'instaurer des temps récurrents (mensuels par exemple) pour que chaque équipe parle de ses réalisations et de l'avancement de ses projets afin de diffuser l'information et de valoriser les collaborateurs et la culture de l'organisation.

Of course, there may be many reasons why you find yourself unable to retain talent. It could be a 'simple' matter of finances, that you're unable to pay a competitive wage. That's a pretty hard one to solve, so you need to do your best to make up for it with things like better career prospects or more freedom for staff to be creative and to progress. One thing I often find missing, though, is a central, shared vision that everyone can get behind and to feel a part of. I'm not just talking mission and vision statements, but a set of authentic values that attract good talent, and that reinforce people's reason for working for you. People get involved in social impact because they care. Do the same for them.

In my experience, it is important to enhance culture, throughout Brand Ambassadors & Employees. They can have a huge impact on how the company is seen in social media, by giving them the possibility to share insight on the company (nothing forced or with big words, but on their own level) Each one of them can share insights regarding, experiences within the company, how the Feedback Culture is currently happening, Mentoring & Coaching, Learning & Development, Inclusion & Diversity and also wellbeing;

Organizations that prioritize employee engagement initiative which promotes inclusiveness and void of bottlenecks are positioned to enhance a culture of social impact in communities of operation.

Souvent on oriente les communications sur l'impact à l'externe auprès du grand public et des parties prenantes (partenaires, clients, bénéficiaires, médias, pouvoirs publics, etc...) tandis que les collaborateurs en interne sont focalisés sur ce qui ne fonctionne pas et qu'il faut résoudre, sur les problèmes organisationnels, etc... Il est essentiel de prendre des temps pour fêter les succès et l'impact généré, et de le rappeler sans cesse aux collaborateurs pour qu'ils gardent l'engagement qui les a poussé à rejoindre l'organisation.

Il est essentiel de reconna?tre les efforts de chacun à travers des temps de valorisation de leur travail (notamment dans les réunions, les séminaires, etc...), à travers des propositions de promotion hiérarchiques ou salariales, et aussi pourquoi pas, en valorisant sur les réseaux sociaux et dans le cadre d'évènements les collaborateurs les plus efficaces et engagés.

Beyond organizational recognition and incentives, line managers should imbibe a leadership style that celebrates individual and team recognition to promote team building. Additionally, leaders should be sensitive enough to eliminate trigger of internal or unhealthy competition.

L'avantage des organisations à impact est le manque de ressources (notamment de moyens financiers ou humains) pour réaliser les objectifs ambitieux. Cela pousse nécessairement à l'innovation et à l'autonomie. Et les collaborateurs qui viennent dans l'impact social sont généralement à la recherche et attirés par cette logique d'innovation et cette autonomie. C'est pourquoi les personnes qui instaurent du micro-management dans ces organisations peuvent nuire à la performance et à la bonne dynamique des collaborateurs.

Democratise your organisation. Invert the pyramid with the executive leadership at the bottom! Involve your team and empower them to take decisions within given and agreed framework. Discus that which inspires and is important to their well being.
