When you see signs of friction, immediately analyze the cause. Is it because your expectations don't align with what you're getting or vice versa (from your mentor's point of view)? Is it a communication/time-zone/language/age-related/skill-gap/misc. issue? Look at the situation objectively and then assess the situation. Moreover, I'd recommend being critical about yourself as well, as we often go easy on ourselves and justify our actions to our own self. You worked hard to get a mentor. Now that you finally have one and it's not going as great as you had hoped, analyze + introspect and salvage the situation. Don't let all your effort go to waste.
