In my experience, most of the time the mentor and Mentee relationship suffers due to communication barrier. Here its the responsibility of the Mentor to break communication abrrier and understand the reason for communication gap. Being introvert at time also hinders the openess in communication which leads to unanswred questions which results into creating dents on the relationship which ultimately affects the project and organizational goals.

Instead to experimenting with different strategies, my advise is to take suggestions and discuss with your colleagues, department heads and even HR. You should also take feedbacks on how your strategies are working to build relationship with your mentee or mentor. For the success of your project, you should anything and everything which can help the organisation meet the strategic goals.
