What's important for the literature review is the following - 1. There is a lot of data out there, and Chat GPT, LLM's have only made this world larger. You will need to focus on why this reserach. what's my hypothesis? and what is this literature review going to add value to my purpose and hypothesis 2. Most importantly checking the strength of the literature being reviewed to the questions you are answering within the research is essential. EG: the impact of the literature being reviewed on the hypothesis (positive/negative) - sample size, countries? Impact size, type of research etc could be indicators to assess the inclusion/exclusion of a particular research from the lit review.

I have observed that literature review lacks logical reasoning because some researchers are not well versed with the process of reviewing the literature. Reviewing literature is definitely NOT summarising it. Here are some of the questions that can be kept in mind while reviewing a particular piece of literature: 1) Does the author's argument require more clarification? 2) What issues and questions has the author not addressed? 3) Is there a different perspective that I can consider? 4) What other factors could have influenced the findings of the research? 5) Are the methods or the procedures used outdated or no longer considered valid in your field? Is there a scope for you to test the findings using a more current approach?

4 Support your claims

The fourth step is to support your claims with evidence and examples. You need to demonstrate how your sources support your argument, and how they relate to your research question and purpose. You should also acknowledge and address any counterarguments or alternative perspectives that may challenge your claims. You should use direct quotations, paraphrases, and summaries to present your sources, and cite them properly according to the referencing style of your discipline. You should also explain and interpret your sources, and show how they fit into your argument.

At this stage, you need to review from various ‘isms’- capitalism, feminism, anti-racism, ableism. These isms have their analytical framework. It will be good to review the analysis through these lens. It is better than to evolve own, if necessary.
