The answer is simple - Coaching and Mentoring. As a leader you should be 'walking your patch' on a daily basis, this acts as a great communications conduit to your team. This will give them the opportunity to ask for help and for you to empower them to find a solution. It's also important to make the time to follow up and to provide feedback to close the circle off. Whenever someone is lacking in a skill, the leader should empower that person to grow and not just provide the answers. It has been my experience that using this method, my team's confidence and ability skyrockets and their morale is all the better for it.
