What do you do if your HR consultants need to boost employee engagement through innovation?

To enhance employee engagement, organizations should raise a culture of innovation. This involves implementing innovation as a core value, hiring various talents, allocating time for creative projects, promoting collaboration, seeking feedback, implementing ideas, rewarding contributions, and investing in training. By doing so, companies can create an environment where employees feel valued, empowered, and motivated to contribute their best.

To boost employee engagement through innovation, guide your HR consultants to: 1. Foster a Culture of Innovation: Encourage teams to share ideas and experiment with new engagement strategies. 2. Leverage Technology: Implement tools like AI-driven feedback systems or gamified platforms to enhance interaction. 3. Personalize Experiences: Use data to tailor engagement initiatives to individual needs and preferences. 4. Promote Continuous Learning: Offer opportunities for skill development and growth. 5. Recognize and Reward: Implement recognition programs that celebrate innovative contributions. These steps can drive meaningful engagement and foster a dynamic workplace culture.

To Assess needs we should be clear on the overall objective, who are the stakeholders and what will be the impact to the business. This will further be supported by the data in hand or need to do right research as well

Communication. Communication. Communication It's not about speaking but rather asking questions and listening. 1. Meet with the team 1:1 or in small groups and let them talk 2. Ask "What's not working? 3. Ask "What's the impact?" 3. Ask "What could be a solution - anything goes?" 4. Incentivize optimization and innovation within the teams. You'll be amazed just how insightful they are and just how much they appreciate being asked. Your efficiency will increase, along with your ROI and engagement. Also create an open culture where employees feel free to speak up when they have an idea, and not make them wait until they are asked.

Assess needs to identify strengths to sustain and the most critical gaps to close. If done correctly, you’ll optimize the value creation / ROI for your efforts.

HR professionals don't have the answers. Getting appropriate employees involved in this is key. They are the ones with the intimate knowledge to address challenges/suggest new methods/validate ideas. It will give them an opportunity to develop their skills and contribute, help increase their feeling of value to the organisation and that they are respected for their views. In addition, they can be valuable change agents. These are all factors that can enhance their emotional connection with their organisation and increase their overall engagement.

An example I remember when we applied kaizen philosophy (I think it could help the HR Consultant). Kaizen is Japanese philosophy that means continuous improvement, it is one of the success pillars in Japanese companies. We applied it through a process: 1- Establish a system for Kaizen (including: Idea generation, gathering ideas, Evaluation, Execution and Rewarding). 2- Conduct Training awareness for management team and hold them accountable on Kaizen System. 3- Implement training sessions and workshops for all supervisors and employees. 4- Formulate Kaizen Committee with roles and responsibilities to encourage employees participation, gathering and ranking new idea. 5- Apply best ideas and measure ROI. 6- Reward the best employees.

Establish programs that encourage employees to submit innovative ideas that could improve their work processes or products. This could include setting up idea boxes, regular innovation challenges, or hackathons. Rewarding employees for their contributions can be a significant motivator.

This is a very important step and we need to create a right environment for them to come up with great ideas. Sharing the problem statement clearly will facilitate this process more effectively. Too early to judge any idea or reject any thoughts

Como gerar novas ideias? Dentro do RH ou qualquer outro setor, quem está na linha de frente, na ponta no negócio raramente é ouvido. E s?o justamente essas pessoas, que vivem no dia a dia, os revezes da organiza??o. Os consultores de RH s?o quem trata diretamente com o funcionário, líderes e gestores. Eles est?o habilitados a aplicar avali??es e pesquisa que possam levantar quais práticas precisam ser implementadas para que o engajamento aumente. O RH criativo é capaz de chamar para si essa tarefa e de apresentar uma solu??o que seja assertiva, principalmente se for engajado com desenvolvimento humano organizacional.

Pilot programs are so widely accepted today that it would be inexcusable to forgo them without valid business reasons. But not all pilot programs are created equal. To design a credible and effective experiment, apply relevant gold standards in social science such as randomized controlled trials and replicability, whenever possible, while recognizing that people do not behave as "mechanical systems," and in fact, organizations contain both "people and things, software and hardware." Check for cognitive biases in interpreting and reporting results. A well-run pilot(s) will help avoid costly misassumptions and mistakes, and will optimize the initiative before launching it across the enterprise. HR credibility depends upon it.

I also agree with most of the other additions to bring diversity to the fore. Basically one of the few departments that that makes it possible to engage routinelly with corporate leadership. As an HR professional, you'll play a key role in company-wide initiatives

Clear communication is essential for productive environment. HR consultant should communicate / explain the goals and objectives of the company, which will resonate the employee’s thought process and keep them engaged.

Comunicar é uma arte, assim como se fazer entender. Quando feito com clareza, responsabilidade e transparência, tornar-se uma aliada para enfrentar qualquer desafio dentro da organiza??o. A empresa que se preocupa em se comunicar da forma certa, tem o engajamento garantido.

Employee engagement is a very risky component of any organization and if consultants were hired to boost this process I would follow these steps 4,3, and 5. First giving insight on the innovation by clearly communicating to the consultants and the employees on why consultants are being used and why it's important for each employee to participate. Next I would implement or have the consultants implement pilot programs to see if we actually implemented the correct process and finally I would want an evaluation of the process to measure the success or gain insight on the areas of opportunity. This would also allow for any adjustments and make sure that the consultants have stayed true to the engagement innovation effort.

In measuring impact, remember that causation is not correlation; avoid conflation of the two in communicating results. Beware of two extremes - sunk cost fallacy, an irrational commitment to a losing cause of action, and abandoning an experiment or a pilot program too early. Create an environment where people feel safe to report undesirable or unexpected findings. Cultivate intellectual curiosity in the team to ask an appropriate number of whys, with a laser focus on the end consumer or customer.

Para mantener el compromiso a lo largo del tiempo, se requiere esforzarse por implementar algunas estrategias en: -cultura: fomentar una cultura que valore y recompense la innovación. Implica crear un ambiente donde se aliente la creatividad, se acepten los errores como parte del proceso de aprendizaje y se celebren los éxitos innovadores. -liderazgo: los líderes deben demostrar un compromiso continuo con la innovación. Esto implica asignar recursos, tiempo y apoyo necesario para que los equipos puedan dedicarse a actividades innovadoras. También pueden actuar como modelos a seguir al participar activamente en procesos de innovación y comunicar la importancia estratégica de la innovación para la organización. (no son las únicas areas)

Develop a recognition system that acknowledges and celebrates innovative efforts, whether or not they succeed. This can include awards, spotlight stories in company communications, or even direct bonuses for impactful ideas.

This can include providing training and development opportunities, promoting collaboration...

Identify areas where the organisation is looking to innovate as part of its strategy. It could be in product offering, technology, building a learning org etc. This information will provide the right direction to proceed in. Once this theme is identified, the HR consultants can brain storm to come up with ideas, activities, learning solutions, gamification, creating think tanks etc to engage the employees and make them feel connected with the organisation' mission. Post this it is all about successful project management.
