However, intentional networking is still something rare, so when done properly can have exponential results on your development as a professional. A few tips on it: 1. It's funny that none of the categories above address SEEKING metrics and and indicators of success. It's very true that game development careers can be hit or miss for how validating your projects are to your personal standing. So many parts go into the success of a game, and as a result many of us have worked on multiple failed games. And working on a successful game can sometimes be as much about luck as actual skill. To combat this, my advice is and always has been side-projects. Put together teams of the very best your network has to offer and release micro-scale proof of concept games. A really well executed tiny game can often showcase your awesomeness better than a mediocre goliath.
