What do you do if your experience isn't helping you adapt as a Practice Management professional?

Embracing change is easier said than done. Our brains love stability! Give yourself some grace and recognize that embracing change will take effort. You may experience discomfort... and the people you present change to may push back. Talk to peers, a mentor, or a coach about how to prepare yourself for change. You may need to get organized. You may need to focus on what is NOT changing. You may need to improve your communication skills. The important thing to remember is that you have recognized that you have opportunity to grow. SO, SO many people don't even recognize that. Celebrate yourself! And get ready to embrace what lies ahead!

If your experience is not helping you to adapt, it means one of two things. One, you are not experienced and two your experience does not fit the job description. You can do one of two things. One is to leave the job and find the job that relates to what you have experience in or two, identify why experience is lacking, identify what is lacking and work towards improving it. Generally, experience does not keep you current and often experience keeps you from further learning and adapting to change. Definitely I rely on tech. As it has the knowledge on everything. So it will be a good start. Then do some notes and summary. What you think will work based on experience. If not working, then find other ways. Never give up.

Attending conferences, joining relevant professional associations, and participating in online forums can open doors to valuable insights and advice. Networking also provides opportunities for mentorship and collaboration, enabling me to leverage the expertise of others to bridge the gaps in my own knowledge and skills.

Regular reflection on what is going well and where there are further opportunities will help you continue to adapt to a practice management role. You will never get everything right. That's part of being human! Read industry articles. Attend conferences and webinars. Listen to how others process information in meetings you attend in your organization. You may be surprised how much you can grow and learn to adapt just by observing... reflecting... and integrating small changes into your daily habits.
