A lot of times , if you ask enough questions to people using the affected functionality, you will find out it was something that was working earlier and there have been changes somewhere else like in an integration , API, remote server login or ports or firewall issue, which is causing the problem. It is actually not an ERP system issue in particular.

After spending few hrs. depending on how bad the situation is , engage peers for getting different perspectives and to look at the issue from another view. It has happened that somebody else might see something you were missing to look all this while or assuming it would be in that place.
