What do you do if your employees are disengaged with ERP?

You need to directly engage with them to identify what are the root causes of this disengagement. First of all, depending on the size of the company, run a confidential survey to know what they think about the current ERP system. If it is a small or medium size company, quickly get discussions in focus groups (by line of business, by specialty, etc) and gather feedback face-to-face about which challenges they face with the ERP system. Collect those feedbacks and gather the company leadership together to devise a remediation plan. Communicate that remediation plan to the whole company, provide a timeline and designate accountable people to get it done. Not doing anything will lead to several layoffs.

Communication and Training: Improve communication about the benefits of ERP and provide comprehensive training to ensure employees understand its value and how to use it effectively. Engagement Initiatives: Implement engagement initiatives such as gamification, rewards programs, or feedback mechanisms to foster enthusiasm and participation in ERP usage. Most of the time,employees are disengaged with ERP because they are too comfortable using legacy systems for years...it is very important the Management team gets involved and engage their teams letting them know there is no going back.Change Management team needs to help them troobleshoot their pain points and support them with empathy but also letting him know that it is always difficult at the beginning but it will get better with time and practice. The future benefits need to be showcased.Lastly, a good training (1-1 if needed) with clear documentation can help users get better/familiar at working with the ERP.

Unfortunately, training is often overlooked during ERP implementations. ERP users have either been trained too early or have not been trained at all. Training should not just be a one-off event. There should be two components to succesful training delivery: - a "do-it-yourself" access to training material and training system - a formal classroom training, delivered live. It can be done in person or remotely but it has to be live to foster genuine interaction with the ERP users. After the formal training is delivered, make sure that you collect feedback on this so that corrective actions are taken prior to the go-live. The training material needs to be easily accessible for the ERP users, for each process step they need to execute.

A classic issue in ERP implementation is the lack of communication to the teams about the benefits of using a new ERP. State that it is there to fulfill a common objective: increased productivity, better spend control, streamlined processes, higher time spent on revenue generating activities, proper integration between finance & logistics, etc. It is important to state the common objective and explain how it trickles down within the organization, so that everybody is on board with the project.
