Acknowledgement is the first and foremost step and goes a long way when it comes to valuing contributions. Secondly - disassociate "formalized" rewards with celebration. You do not need a quarterly or yearly RnR to celebrate someone's creative contribution. The challenge is - Creative contributions don't always have a direct outcome like objective contributions do. Be cognizant of that. Have a lookout for such things. Be mindful to think about these, and make people who put in efforts in such direction feel valued so that they are actually able to inspire and foster an environment that wants to solve problems in a more creative manner.

Employee contributions going unrecognized is indicative of not having a process and a medium / channel for employees to announce their achievements. This calls for re-visiting the performance management process, Reward and recognition policy and the HR technology platform capabilities. Recognizing employees for their contributions and achievements goes a long way in establishing employer branding as a great place to work which not just boosts employee morale but also attract and retain talent.
