What do you do if your data science internship doesn't lead to a full-time job?

I was lucky that I was converted to a full time but here is the safety net that I had prepared for myself if things would have gone south: If you are not converted to FTE it's either of the two: i) someone out-worked you ii) company didn't have the resources to convert (which is unlikely the case). You should be happy if i) is the case- because you have a reference (the person who got hired instead of you) to compare with. This gives you a clarity of the areas where you were lacking and where you could have done better. Be it i) or ii) make sure you always take feedback from your seniors. Lastly, it is imp to remember that: Experience of 6 months > 0; Never be sad for not getting an FTE, in such cases - you win even when you lose.

Having spent 6 months unemployed following my first data science experience made me realise how important it is to stay positive. Stay positive and keep learning new things through practical experience. I volunteered my skills and attended data science events to network. I even co-founded a learning group with others who were interested in data science. I kept posting on Linkedin the new concepts/tools I was learning and the projects I was working with my team, and this has been really useful in securing my next job. Positivity is crucial. Given the rapid evolution of data science, it's essential to keep learning as well to ensure you stay aligned with developments that are relevant to the business world.

When your contract expires, you ask your supervisor about your expectations because you've been working hard, and they respond something like, "Sorry, we don't have openings right now." Despite how tough it is, one must persevere and move past the rejection.
