What I have learned building Product Development teams is that this is a team sport. Like in any team sport you play to win the game, the season but beyond that a team and each “players” on your team need a purpose. Something beyond the ups and downs of the day to day. A goal, a vision that keeps everyone going even when there are a some obstacle on the way. Finally make sure you foster a team culture of fun and allow people to enjoy what they and how they work is so important. A great team spirit helps to stick things out but also makes those wins just so much sweeter. There are many ways how to do this and every team is different. Done be afraid to experiment until you find what works. Use those retrospectives for process and culture.
