Large teams can become unwieldy. To regain control, we need to empower our team. By delegating tasks effectively, we can distribute the workload and leverage the expertise of our team members. This frees us up to focus on high-level strategy, problem-solving, and overall project oversight. Delegation fosters ownership, improves efficiency, and allows us to manage a larger team successfully.

Giving a breakdown of tasks, keeping the individual teams and monitoring of each one from a linking approach should prove to be best way to unlock the crowding and each one trying to do the same job which will create other problems and delay the whole timeline.

I love the part that says delegation is not about relinquishing control but entrusting tasks to competent individual(s) while maintaining oversight. The success or failure of the tasks rests on the one who delegated the tasks. Delegation gives room to innovation and creativity on the part of the ones who have the delegated authourit; however, there can be distruptive innovations or creativities that are counterproductive. This is where the oversight comes in. There must be constant checks and balances, but this should not be synonymous to micromanagement of competent personnel who have been assigned to perform the task. They must feel trusted and see that they are trusted to execute the task.

Communication is absolutely critical. One aspect of creating an environment of effective communication is document control. In order for larger teams to succeed the documents team members have access to and rely on need to be current and accurate. There is nothing worse than constructing off the wrong version of drawings and editing an outdated process or plan document.

I have realised that communication is essential to the success of teams and organisations. However, it is essential to decipher early and plan for the type of communication that is valuable to all concerned parties. The need of technical teams would definitely be different from that of the general staff. Likewise, that of the management could be different as well. Different fora can be created and different methodologies deployed to ensure all concerned parties are attended to and their most essential needs met and adequate communication provided.

Technology plays a crucial role in managing large-scale projects, and fortunately, today there are numerous websites and applications in the field of construction management that promote better coordination and transparency among project members. The use of technology in managing such projects is of paramount importance, as traditional methods are certainly not sufficient.

Technology is something that every project needs to embrace. However, it is critical not to become passive during data review. Data drives decision making therefore bad data (either through collection, analysis or input) can lead to poor decision making. Everyone that relies on the data has a responsibility to ensure that the data makes sense and that it can be trusted. Bad data in = bad decision making!

The quality of a team is equivalent to the quality of training the team has received over the years and related to the task at hand. This buttresses the reason why training budget is incorporated into most large-scale projects as this gives room to structured training for tools to be deployed on the project or necessary identified skill set gaps that are requisite for the project. Sometimes the needed training could be on new technologies or be based on job shadowing and mentorship. If the team lacks certain skills, potential solutions may include resource sharing among teams, cross-training between teams, upskilling specific team members, or bringing in additional resources to fill the gap, provided the project can support it.

Too many cooks eventually spoil the broth. This is often true for large projects with skilled team members. It is usually counterproductive when the leadership structure and reporting lines are not clearly defined for such teams. This can even be a great issue if the team members have similar competencies and are at the same management level. It's easier for lower-level managers to take instruction from higher-level managers than for equally-matched managers to take instruction from themselves. This typically results in an unspoken power tussle. This happens unconsciously, even in the most well-behaved teams. Thus, resource allocation, resource leveling, if needed, and team organization and reorganization are critical in team management.

Reassessing the structure of the team is the best course of action. Pick the most reliable, trusted and skilled employees to start training to step into a leadership role. Pay extra attention to the employees being trained until you think they can swim on their own, proceed to take a step back. Also, communication is key! They need to be able to contact you at any time during the shift with issues or delays they've encountered that they haven't had to deal with at that level yet.

This approach not only streamlines workflow but also boosts morale and accountability among the team.

Implement performance matrics by setting measurable indicators to track the productivity and effectiveness of the team which can help in identify areas for improvement and optimize resource allocation.

Decentralize command: - identify personnel able to guide teams - structure teams and communication matrix - identify tactical goals for the lower tier teams - communicate the project view to generate in autonomy new tactical goals from higher tier teams/team leader groups - keep in mind you have to train/follow the personnel, they might not be used to handle people and relative long term goals -identify broad strategy and checkpoints - make yourself useless as much as possible, so to have the team solve the problems and be able to be "the creator" that takes care about the strategic goals generation
