Before you move anything or draw any thing else. Review why the scene is in the picture and what part of the story your scene needs to convey to the audience. What piece of information or emotion is intended to be given to the audience during your scene. Create and Stage your poses to make this as clear as possible to the audience. Review the audio track, animatic or storyboards. What are the high and lows? What is the cadence? What is the flow of the sequence? Discuss and brainstorm with the director or your lead to see if what they have in mind for this moment.

Do it over. Thumbnail the action. Listen to the track. Time it in your head with a stopwatch…they’re still useful. If that doesn’t work, do it over again.

Complex or not, you tell that animation to GET BACK TO WORK!! None of this layabout “rendering” nonsense! Get going you slug-a-bed! Quit nincompooping all over the floor, and TWEEN dash it all! I’ve seen some lazy animation in my day, but you take the freakin’ Blackwing! The producer’ll have your keyframes for this! There will be no cake in the breakroom for the likes of you! No nice “bezier curves” you’re always grousing about not getting, or “splines” as you refer to, whatever those are. Buster, you best be getting your data mining aggregator on, though I doubt even Linkedin’s predatory data set could build an AI that’ll jolt your frames into that illusion of life! Grab your “Survival Kit” your “Character Animation Crash Course” and move!

If your complex character animation isn't working, maybe it's time to call it quits. When life closes one door, it often opens another. Now is the time to apply for Med School or get that Law degree you've always dreamt about. Better still change your name and move to a foreign country. If you can dream it, you can do it. Except complex character animation. Maybe don't dream of doing that.
