Most of the performance issues related to slow loading speed gets resolved by understanding and limiting the data being used on the dashboard. You do not need to drill down and put 10 filters on top of your reports having some default values which makes your data being loaded and all KPIs being calculated across several dimensions. So, keep your default view simple yet informative. give user the option to slice and dice.
