"Prospective" could be many things. Firstly, if your boss does not understand your perspective, you might not be putting it at the level of his or her understanding. You must understand the level of how your boss operates, to gain his understanding, you must present your perspective from an eye point of view, and also obtain other co-workers' views to be sure of how would you gain his attention. I would request that my boss allow me to run a proof of concept, where I put something together and run it as a test trial, get other views, and prove that the concept works, then I will go back and present my view and identify why I brought it up in the first place, and how it can work and benefit our operation or organization.

If they have a different perspective because of a previous experience or additional knowledge they may have. 2. Whether they are thinking a different angle to what you are There is no silver bullet, but continuing dialog will help understand other perspectives better. Just remember that having a data driven approach will put your perspective more cogently than any amount of passion or emotion. So, show the data, make your case. Finally, learn to live with decisions others may have to make and execute faithfully if its your job.
