Its either an unfair assessment or is based in reality. You need to decide what the truth is. There may be circumstances outside your control that resulted in a negative perception and that's tough. There have been two occasions early in my career where I fell short and had to hold my hand up to it. I learned from that. I also had an experience where a PM on a call with others said the work I had produced at short notice was poor quality. It wasn't perfect but given the time constraints I thought it was decent. I told him 'if you don't like it, do it yourself '. He reported me to the agency I was working with and requested they take me off the project which I found funny. I didn't get removed and we ended up having an amicable relationship.
