What do you do if you want to use your experience working abroad to advance your career?

For me, update my CV is my biggest challenge. It is easy to write my graduations, in which field I have decided to explore more, how many languages I speak, etc. But how can I prove how passionate I am about my profession?! How dedicated and hardworking I am and, not being modest, how luck any company would have hiring me. I do love my profession, I do want to be and to know the best I can in my field, that is why I am always doing another pos graduation and other related courses. But emphasize what you are looking for, try to be consistent, never stop studying and keep your hopes up.

One should definitely update their resume accordingly. Not only does this demonstrate acquiring new job-related experiences but also gaining new insights within an international context. During time spent abroad, individuals undergo significant personal and professional development. They become acquainted with both the culture and working methods in different countries. These aspects, in addition to professional accomplishments, hold significant importance for potential employers, showcasing the potential and added value individuals can bring to the company as a whole.

During an overseas stay, it is of great importance to establish a local network. In addition to personal connections, which sometimes last a lifetime, it is particularly essential to strengthen and expand one's network in the professional sphere. Especially in the international arena, having various contacts at different locations is invaluable. Maintaining regular communication is key to obtain added value. Furthermore, it's always surprising how often you encounter someone again in a different place or company.

Ich konnte mich selbst so viel besser kennenlernen und kann das jetzt in meine beruflichen Stationen mitnehmen.

If you do not have time for a pos graduation, do courses that take less time, but keep you updated, in the right direction. Now there are some free courses, short ones. There are no excuses. Abrace knowledge.

You never stop learning! In every country you visit, it's crucial to absorb everything new like a sponge. From diverse cultures to different work methods, one can gain many sustainable benefits that were previously unanticipated. Additionally, seizing the opportunity to improve or learn a new language is essential. The more you can acquire, the better, both professionally and personally.

Working abroad is definitively challenger, as expected, but there are some many aspects that have to be seeing before you decide to bring your knowlege and expetise to another country. In my experience, as soon as you jump those aspctes/ steps mentioned before, all you have in front of you is growing. Leaving your conforte zone and move to another country to work it is not always easy, but for me, being chalenged everyday, keeps me going and excited to give my best constantly.

Working abroad comes with a lot of different challenges. Apart from changing your work and uprooting your private life , you should consider to have an intercultural training in the culture you are working in. This not only helps you to better cope with business behaviour, it will help you to build up more connections and at the end stable relationships at your workplace!
