What do you do if you want to stand out in career development roles?

Highlight the benefits and solutions you provide rather than just listing your qualities or expertise. Clearly describe how your unique abilities and traits may assist solve issues, create value, and contribute to the success of your intended audience. Show the outcomes and results that clients and employers may expect while working with you. Please provide some examples of the same.

The first step is to conduct your own SWOT analysis, to understand your Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats. Knowing your strength, you're able to sharpen them. Then understand your weaknesses. Even, you're able to use the "Johari Window Framework". The Johari Window is split into four quadrants, the Open Area (known to yourself and others),the Hidden Area (known to yourself, but keep hidden from others), and the Unknown Area (not known to yourself and others), The Blind Area (Not known to your self but known to others). This is most harmful area for us. Get assistance from your trusted friends, teammates to understand your Blind Area. Carefully analyse them to eliminate. Then Identify your niche and build your personal brand.

Before finding your niche, first work out on finding your "why" and purpose. ?? This allows you to find a niche that best resonates with your authentic self. How do you do this? Ask yourself; What motivates you? What do you want to contribute to? Who do you want to become? Then with this knowledge and clarity, search and explore your target audience.

Here's how I break personal brand into a 3-step framework: 1) Before you get into goals, values, etc. - all you need to start is to identify the 1-3 core beliefs that represent your personal view of the world (ex. I believe all children deserve equal access to tech education) 2) Test them out, share with your friends and family, do they feel 100% you? Be very sure they represent you because you don't want to change these frequently, they're a part of your identity. 3) Once confirmed, state your beliefs on public channels like LinkedIn, Medium, and/or social media. Respond to current events using your beliefs so that your content is both relevant and consistent. Your brand will evolve, but nail these 3 steps and you'll be on your way.

Don't limit your learning to formal education or traditional courses. Explore diverse sources such as workshops, seminars, online tutorials, and informal mentorships. This multi-faceted approach broadens your knowledge base and enhances your adaptability and creativity in solving problems. Beyond professional skills, prioritize personal development encompassing emotional intelligence, resilience, and self-awareness. These qualities contribute to your effectiveness in guiding others and make you more relatable and empathetic as a career development professional. By incorporating these strategies alongside the existing recommendations, you'll stand out and thrive in career development roles, making a lasting impact on those you serve.

Being a lifelong learner, I firmly advocate for continuous learning as a means to excel in any role, especially for career development. Admittedly, attaining this authenticity poses challenges, especially within professional roles, yet it is what distinguishes us. What I've discovered instrumental in attaining this authenticity is engaging in introspection- reflecting on our values, strengths, and areas for growth. Seeking feedback from trusted peers, mentors, or coaches also yields invaluable insights. Embracing authenticity involves maintaining consistency, transparency, and staying true to our values throughout every step of our professional journey.

Being authentic is about self-awareness and honest self-reflection. ?? Ask yourself the following: ?? What motivates you? ?? What do you want to contribute to? ?? What do you admire in people you like? Intentionally using the answers to these questions creates a pathway for you to become your authentic self.

Sounds simple, but you have to do stuff that stands out. Stuff so great that people take notice. Have you created enough content that when people discover you, they can "binge" on your content for hours? Are you accessible and visible on multiple platforms? Show evidence of your great work (like the work itself and testimonials) and you will absolutely stand out!
