What do you do if you want to move up from an entry-level to a managerial role in BPO?

Career elevation prospects become bright by virtue of gaining relevant experience and showing right attitude and intent to take on higher responsibilities, usually off the plate of your supervisor. Managerial responsibilities are quite a handful and should be claimed when one fully understands and appreciates the nuances and have been given a thumbs up by a reliable mentor. Many a careers end prematurely because one ends up biting off more than one can chew!

Become a superstar in your current role before climbing up to the next level. Smash those targets and show everyone you're reliable. Proactively take online courses offered by your company to equip and upskill yourself. Some BPOs offer certifications related to your field - getting those under your belt will make you shine even brighter. Lastly, don't be afraid to raise your hand for extra projects or trickier tasks - it shows you're hungry to learn.

To transition from entry to manager in a BPO -Focus on acquiring relevant skills & demonstrating leadership potential. Seek out opportunities for professional development such as attending workshops or certifications in areas like team management, communication & problem-solving. Take on additional responsibilities, volunteer for special projects & consistently exceed expectations in your current role to showcase your readiness . Build strong relationships with supervisors & express your interest in career progression. Network within the company to learn about available managerial positions & express your desire to be considered for them. Additionally, consider pursuing further education to enhance your credibility for a managerial role.

I feel it's important for you to be clear about your target role and research what is needed and identify the skill gaps so you can work on building those competencies for you to be successful. Also be transparent with your Manager so he/she can support this journey and help coaching and preparing you with proper guidance, feedback and ensuring you have the right platform to display your additional skills.

It's important to learn from the people who have done it themselves. I have observed that a lot of people seek career advice from their peers instead of their managers who have successfully made that journey. A better strategy to reach out to the leaders in your organization or even outside to mentor you. Most leaders love to help, it's only a matter of asking.
