The recommendation is to always bring a whole bunch of business cards to hand out a networking events, but I do find that if you get so focused about handing out your business cards that you sometimes miss engaging in the conversations that are happening around you. So, I have rarely given out my business card, instead I would listen to whoever is speaking in and then I introduce myself say a little bit about who I am but most importantly after meeting I would follow up with a social media friend follow and DM. It's important to connect in person and while I'm in person I would be fully present and then definitely follow up digitally.

The real work begins after the event. I diligently follow up with the contacts I've made, whether it's sending a personalized email, connecting on LinkedIn, or scheduling a follow-up meeting. Also, I follow each brand and studio's social media to be up to date with their feed. Building and nurturing relationships is crucial for long-term success.

While preparation ahead of time and engagement during the networking event is important, a golden rule that a mentor shared with me was... "DON'T TAKE BUSINESS CARDS!!" well if you do use them wisely, but what she meant by that is that networking is not a game of just handing our business cards, but instead make meaningful connections, once you do that ask for their card or contact info and follow up with them via email or LinkedIn. Meaningful connections are worth more than multiple connections.
