What I do is work on unique projects individually. You can select any idea for your GIS projects. In my mind, the first thing which comes is, census data, as it is easily available and accessible. You can actually do a lot with it. You can plan urban development, public health and economics and anything which is really intersting and has to do with census data.

Add projects that are unique and showcase your creativity and problem-solving skills. Highlight your technical skills in your portfolio.
