If you want to make a good impression or walk away feeling good about your networking opportunity... You should make a plan. So many people walk into networking opportunities with great intentions but then the pressure of it, has them staying in the background the whole night. I always have a number in mind before I go. I want to make contact with (7-10) people. I don't waste time at the bar, I do what I came to do. Network. If I make eye contact I'm going to smile and introduce myself. Listen FIRST. Add value by listening and asking them something not related to work. (Stick out) If you approach a group already talking don't be rude. Have open body language and wait for a moment. Be patient, have a plan and connect!
