Mutually beneficial relationships are always the best connections and establish the basis for long-term collaboration.

In my experience, it is often better to find out about the person that you are speaking with first to understand their position and interests. Then you can tailor your pitch to their perspective.

(For investors) What do you particularly look for in founders? This kind of approach means that then, when the conversation moves across to you, you have an understanding of their background. You can then start with what has led you to start this startup – your “why”. Why are you so passionate about building this startup (Simon Sinek has a great TedTalk on this).

Try to only add people who fit into your ideal customer / ideal investor personas to keep digital conversations focused. You can comment on that post directly - to add value to it, and you can also follow up with a direct message to them, to comment on something they are passionate about.
