I don't agree that it's CRUCIAL to pick the right language. Sure, if you know what it is you want to be able to produce, that can help to choose an appropriate language. The core principals and understandings of programming are portable across most languages, so starting with any approachable language is a good start. Telling beginners "IT IS CRUCICAL YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT LANGUAGE" as the first step is incredibly stress inducing and may push them away.

As long as you have worked on your algorithm and structures, the first thing you should do is to choose a language. This will help you understand the syntax and libraries, the resources, code, and projects are dependent on the language you choose. But most important thing is SEE THE MARKET what language has most job opening or most wanted

In my opinion, all languages follow the same basics with different syntax. Choose a language you are interested in and learn while coding. The first thing to do is go over the algorithm. For a factorial program, try to break it into - what variables are needed, a counter, and the result. Now, you need to work on initializing them and using them to achieve the result. Online platforms are great and can't be ignored. However, do not rely on those solely. Some people find it more efficient to learn from books. The benefit of books is the structured approach to learning. With online coding platforms it is easy to slip to a easy-only tasks path and this will hold you from an actual understanding of the underlying concepts. Books also offer a unique opportunity to disconnect while still learning. That being said, structured online courses offer similar benefits, choose the way most comfortable to you.

One useful tool online is practicing using online compilers in different programming languages. It’s very useful to test small snippets of code and scripts.

Hands down, the legendary online resources platform for learning programming is W3Schools and GeeksForGeeks (also the best for learning software engineering concepts). Programiz is also a good platform for referencing and learning basic concepts in programming. In terms of online courses, Coursera and Udemy are among the top picks, and I have taken some courses there too. But CS50 really is the best, to be honest.

Those tools are great, not only for learning but also for refining your knowledge. Projects like The University of Helsinki's MOOC for Java, FreeCodeCamp, The Odin Project and Full Stack Open are vast in the knowledge they share. You can also follow streamers and newsletters to keep your knowledge up to date.

I think best practices is 1- use your knowledge in real tasks. 2- contribution to github projects 3-watch others codes I prefer to contribute on github projects For example i have learned many things about architecture and possibilities in asp.net by using a github project in my code and that was a huge learning information.

Always remember, you are a better programmer when you understand the bugs in your code and can fix them. I used to bug fix my code on a piece of tissue paper during my lunch break or on my way to Uni or work. Think from a different perspective to solve the problem/algorithm. Practice, practice, practice. If your solution doesn't work, go to online forums and seek for different solutions.

Some additional points to add to practice - 1. Practice using each built-in functions of a programming language and use built in interfaces and classes in your code. 2. Keep scalability when you write your code. Question whether it can be scalable or not? 3. Reduce number of lines you can use to code.

First and foremost, fundamentals are crucial in programming, as in any discipline. Once you get the basics, you have to master it to the point where writing code comes in naturally, like breathing. To level up my skills and dive into new knowledge, I'm all about the GRIP Learning pattern! It's my go-to for mastering specific topics or concepts. I usually tell my pupils that you learn to code by coding and I think they understood that months after we started. It is essentian to practice to reinforce what you are learning, not only in exercises but also projects.

Build projects to solidify your coding knowledge. Doing hands-on work helps concepts click, exposes gaps in understanding, and fuels your coding passion.

Cannot stress this enough. Even if you disregard every other advice, build projects. But... Build. Projects. There is no other way, you only learn from practice. Coding challenges or assignments from online courses are nice, but they're not "real". You know there is a right answer and you search for it. Finished real world projects mean: you can sit down and figure out what works and what doesn't. This sometimes frustrating process is what matters in the end. If you can do this, you prove that you can succeed in a real job. At this point and with so many coders of such varying quality being around, I would not hire anyone who cannot show me a real world project they've completed.

Complete the basics and start side by side a small prototype of an application. Keep making that project bigger by adding new modules, make mistakes and learn.

I see building project is crucial for beginner because we not only learn the new programming language but also the concept and principle of that specific language along the way. It may be difficult at first since you are exposed to a total new environment but it is more pratical since you will have hands on experience.

The major point here is that the project MUST be interesting to you. There is hardly any benefit for you in making changes to some boring (for you) Open Source project you found in need for bug fixes.

Best way to keep up with all the latest goodies of the SDK is to join their community in LinkedIn , Facebook and other platforms. Join forums like techcommunity.microsoft.com and respond to queries and ask questions. Build a network around the community and take help from others in the community.

Joining communities and forums for Tech stacks that you use also helps you to keep up with all the latest tech updates. Platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Reddit, Stack Overflow and other platforms are widely used by many communities.

At least in Spain Reddit is not the only option. I have found some really great communities in discord servers provided by streamers. Reddit groups and LinkedIn are a great source but sometimes you really need more specific material.

If you really want to be a Software Engineer/Programmer, the first thing you need to learn is the basics of the Hardware and the Operating System (OS). And then, learn how an Application Software works with the specific Hardware and the OS. Learn about memory (RAM) management. Learning a programming language is the easy part. Most importantly, always have a design (Use Case, Class Diagram, ERD, etc.) before you start coding. It depends and varies according to the project you are about to embark on. Have a design first, preferably, on a piece of paper. - Ask questions. - Take a break (very important!). Go away from the design. Do/think of something else. Make a cup of coffee/tea or go for a walk. - Refine your design. Start coding.

Honestly working in teaching on technological field feels like you are learning a different thing each day. And it does not stop on languages, frameworks or technologies. Yesterday I talked at my pupils about Unesco goals, two days ago it was about soft-skills. You just have to embrace the journey.

Keep revising the basic concepts, those are the pillars. Take a problem statement from leetcode and other sources, discuss it with other programmers. New ideas will surely come along.

It's not easy. If it was easy the perks wouldn't be as good. Motivation comes and goes, but discipline is what matters. Dedicate yourself to learning and creating and you will go far.
