Working life is not about an overnight success, so let the interviewer know how your journey went. What would you do differently (lessons learned) and what was your proudest moment.

When I worked for a city hall and a mayor, I learnt a lot about internal communications, that's a prove that skills can be forged into your career. I learnt from the press, from journalists, from directors of the city hall, I learnt even from the mayor itself when he released communications that were addressed to the employees of the city hall. It is important to evolve in an ever-changing and dynamic world where communications are a subject of transformation. I received a diploma for serving there as a commissioner and for my work in duty serving my country as well for my outstanding work. I worked for two periods and two different mayors and I am glad to have had this experience that makes my career advance and thrive for success.

I've noticed that many PR and communication pros stay "behind the camera" and don't spotlight their skills and accomplishments. Embrace the opportunity to demonstrate your diverse communication skills and adaptability. This not only underscores that communication isn't one-size-fits-all but also exhibits your ability to tailor messages effectively to various audiences. When discussing your proudest projects, offer detailed insights into your approach and execution. Share how you navigated challenges and innovated to achieve success. Emphasize the tangible value your communication strategy brought to the table. Whether it boosted engagement, drove results, or solved a pressing issue, illustrate how your efforts made a meaningful impact.

It is important that employees understand the business and it is equally important for leaders to understand what the employees aspire for. During your interview, talk about specific campaigns that you have created to foster this information exchange and how leaders and employees in your organisation have responded to them. Share engagement data from your IC analysis and feedback from the leadership and employees to show impact.

Having a results-orientated answer or mindset will help here. When preparing your examples, think about how your internal communications affected retention, revenue, and productivity. By combining your skills in storytelling with supportive data you will be able to show the impact of your work on the organization and how you can bring that to the role you are seeking.

Whenever possible, quantify the impact of your training initiatives. For instance, mention percentage improvements in employee satisfaction scores, reductions in turnover rates, or time saved due to more efficient communication channels. I also like to mention any increases in Town Hall attendance (or views of Town Hall recordings), open and click-through rates of corporate emails, and company-wide newsletter read rates (heatmaps are great for this). Always provide reports whether they've been asked for or not. You are always going to be your best advocate.

Demonstrate your understanding of an organization’s goals and objectives and how your communication approach/framework/deliverables contributed to their success. The smartest thing an internal communication pro should do is draw a line between communication work and organizational success.
