When embarking on my professional speaking journey, the best decision I ever made was to join a local National Speakers Association Chapter. I got training I never even knew I needed, not just on speaking technique, but the business of speaking and made speaker friends that are always willing to share ideas and advice.

Dale Carnegie is also another local option. Many cities and towns also have Business Network International (BNI) clubs that meet for breakfast and lunch for networking.

That part is the icing, the cake is usually solo work, so we need to find ways to connect with other people so we can have that comradery and growth. You will possibly find other people who are looking for their tribe (you) Be open to several events, have a plan to keep an open mind and you'll eventually find your people.

Building a personal brand is a great way to connect with other public speaking professionals. Firstly figure out your niche and style and follow that. You are likely to draw the attention of other speakers in that niche. Follow this by creating compelling content in your niche through videos on social media, podcasts, blogs etc. This will help establish you as a thought leader and gain invitations to Industry events as a speaker. Once there its a great way to connect with others, network and explore collaboration opportunities. Collaborative endeavours not only amplify visibility but also strengthen relationships amongst peers and the industry. Lastly always offer to help and provide support which establishes you as a personal brand.
