I agree. It is important also to leave room for amending goals. While it is ideal to partner with organisations that share your goals, it is important to be willing to be influenced by NGOs. NGOs are the people on the ground with first hand experience of the terrain that you may want to participate in. Taking a hard line on your goals without building an appreciation of those on the ground may result in missing out on a richer contribution to sustainability and even the implementability of your plans.

It is important to think about the contribution (identifying goals) that a collective of organizations can make: how is their impact/reach improved and enhanced through collaboration and partnership? Who will be responsible for what? Are the organizations aligned? This is important as well as having a shared framework or perhaps a document that expresses the individual and joint contributions. This ensures that translating the value of the partnership is relatively easy to do. The step after creating the partnership is obtaining support for it!
