Remember: your biggest strength is you being you. You cannot convey confidence and be assertive in any other voice then your own, based on what you actually feel inside. Lean into what differentiates you, identify in what situations your style, your skill and your approaches have led to success, appreciation and positive feedback. In my experience men are very willing to give clear consice feedback. So simply ask colleagues what they believe are your positive contributions to the team, the work etc. Some of the answers may surprise you! Bonus: In asking others you hear different vocabulary to decsribe the same / similar things, allowing you to select from that what suits you best 'sell' yourself authenticly and hence confidently.

You must become an expert at being assertive, without being aggressive or pushy. There's a fine line that most can't develop without significant trial an error, trial and error that results in significantly bothering people at times, until you know exactly how to be the right kind of assertive, because assertiveness can come in many shapes and sizes. It's difficult to always control your emotions, however. The only big no-no for me is to raise your voice at a colleague, a stakeholder, a subordinate, or a superior; it happens but it should be generally avoided. Treat everyone with respect but don't be afraid to push back even if you know it will rub the other person slightly the wrong way, but it has to be said and done.

Make the space more welcome for non-males. Treat your peers equally and welcome them and their ideas. Call out people that act condescendingly or treat non-men (consciously or unconsciously) differently, specifically in a work setting. As a male working in a male dominated industry, it's up to me and people like me to make this space more inclusive and welcoming for others. The more people we have from different backgrounds, mentalities, and worldviews, the more people we'd be able to connect with through our work.
