Through the utilisation of state-of-the-art technologies, engineers in the field of mechanical engineering may optimise designs, streamline operations, and eventually increase overall efficiency. Professionals may stay ahead of the curve, promote innovation, and advance in their careers by strategically implementing simulations.

When predicting the worst design conditions, it is recommended to use hand calculations alongside. While basic values can be defined using calculations. But for the physical behavior, including deflections and vibrations, I would advise using the latest enhanced software solutions available in the market like Ansys, Nastran, and Abaqus. Although they may be costly, it is better to invest in them to avoid any potential failures in the product or project. For smaller iterations like bending and the simple force calculations and FOS Stuffs you can even use inbuilt capabilities provided by all basic CAD software like SolidWorks, Fusion, and Creo.

Simulation tools like ANSYS, OpenFoam and many others are boon to mechanical engineers. Simulations helps us to simulate the operation of the mechanical components under different mechanical conditions easily. Without simulation tools, experimenting the impact of these conditions on the mechanical component in real life will be very expensive. It's always important to keep the hand-calculation to compare with the simulation results. I used ANSYS to perform the quasi-static compression of a novel xylotus bio-lattice structure for my PG project titled Experimental investigation of 3D printed bio-inspired Xylotus lattice structure for energy absorption under quasi-static axial loading conditions.

Additive Manufacturing(AM) is growing by leaps and bounds. The knowledge of AM allows engineers to explore the unexplored designs. AM also plays a vital role in reducing the time-to-market. Complex and sophisticated designs can be fabricated using AM. The present gen mechanical engineers must be equipped AM skillsets. The present gen mechanical engineers must know when to use AM and when not to use AM. AM maybe a wonderful method to fabricate products with novel designs but the cost incurred is also high.
