When I decided to become a freelancing product marketer, I needed to decide for myself what would be my goals and targets when I become a freelancer vs when part of the corporate world being. I did the following: - 1) Divided my goals into several categories including, professional development, building a sustainable business, work life balance definition in terms of time off/schedule, personal achievements 2) Set clear goals into each category that allows me to easily chart a track to achieve each goal 3) Also identified the risks of moving into freelance vs working a corporate job 4) Set a time frame for each goal 5) ensured that I did a small trial with one ot two clients on the side while taking 2 weeks vacation for me to test it.
