Make sure that every department (from business development, and IS department to project tracking to forecasting to billing) has their needs documented. Understand where there are inefficiencies and where you need improvement. What measurable results are you looking for from those improvements? Lack of commitment from top management may result in inadequate resources, funding, and overall support for the ERP project, increasing the risk of failure. Executive involvement can ensure that all departments are aligned and that everyone can see the bigger picture.

Data integrity is the backbone of every robust and integrated ERP system. Explaining how you came about the error will help the designer of the ERP system introduce preventive measures to forestall future occurrences of such error.

Sometimes incorrect information is provided due to lack of subject knowledge. It is better to involve all the management tiers as well as officers who are involved in data punching. If such is the case & you built your argumentation & reasoning on that, be explicit that you did. For matters where you do require input, flag out the matters that are not clear or dependencies which you need to have clarified, explaining the reasons why these dependencies are crucial for building the further argument/approach
