What do you do if feedback reveals bias in your hiring practices?

Analyze historical hiring metrics & identify hiring managers with the lowest normalized hires of those from protected categories. Interview existing EEs about their experiences with bias in your processes (they know). Report bias results to senior leadership. Fix the problem.

If the bias is netting positive results then you're in good shape. But this is rarely the case. It's rare that you will get all the bias out of hiring, we're humans, after all. But you can mitigate a fair bit of it. Standardizing questions to all candidates being interviewed is a good start. Make sure the process is thorough from start to finish. And if the hiring managers or stakeholders involved with hiring don't like the process, take their feedback and amend the process otherwise they will go rogue or be less engaged in the process. You need a standardized practice so you can adjust if over time if needed. Without a process, your people will be all over the map.
