What do you do if collaborative efforts in education lack equal participation and inclusion?

Before starting or joining a collaborative project, it's essential to assess the current situation and identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the team involved. Understanding the goals, expectations, and norms of the collaboration is crucial, as well as getting to know the members and their backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. It's important to clarify how roles, responsibilities, and tasks are distributed and communicated within the team. Additionally, establishing mechanisms for feedback, evaluation, and recognition is vital for maintaining productivity and morale. Finally, having strategies in place for resolving conflicts, challenges, and disagreements will contribute to the success of the collaboration.

The strength of a team stems from its individual pieces. As the leader it is your job to understand your team members in order to leverage their strengths and create growth in other areas they may be lacking. Coordinating roles, tasks and responsibilities in the future will rely on a keen sense of not only what your team can do individually and collaboratively, but what they want to learn in the process. We are all learners and crave the pursuit of new experiences. Make a focal point for your teams the pursuit of growth.

Lead the humans, don’t just manage the people.
