What do you do if artistic expression isn't resonating with your community organizing and advocacy efforts?

I would need to evaluate the group or individuals in the Community involved or uninterested with my art endeavors. What are their definitions, perceptions or concepts of art? Do they prefer to work individually, in pairs or group with in kind ideas. Does art in the community or by the community have any value for them? Before any project is attempted I would have engaged them with a short historical lecture about art and how it was used throughout history in various cultures up to the present day of our digitized mentality, Artificial Intelligence data formulated imagery and the importance of the individual artist creativity.

They don’t necessarily have to make the intended impact. if I am happy with them, I will continue in that direction if it is fulfilling. It may mean getting less recognition or making less income,but that can be OK.

Also. it is necessary to obtain feedback from the community to understand why this approach isn't resonating. Adjusting artistic strategies based on feedback and being willing to experiment can lead to finding a more effective way for artistic expression to support community organizing and advocacy efforts.

Assess gender perceptions on art. Assess art and its meaning to targets. Evaluate the socioemotional realities of people that influences their perceptions about art. Is your definition of art inclusive/western view of art might negatively influence impact in rural Africa.

For me, conducting surveys and informal conversations with community members provided direct feedback on their engagement and the impact of the art. This insight was crucial for understanding whether the issue was with the art form itself or other factors like accessibility or relevance.

My Art may not have any 'cultural relevance' to anyone in my (physical) community. It does not have anything to do with anyone else until what my Art is resonates with someone else. Art is individual and not collective, (unless it is folk art that developed out of the community as a whole).

I've learned the importance of involving community members in the creation process to ensure the art speaks to their experiences and aspirations. This collaborative approach has often led to more meaningful and embraced projects.

Art is a subjective thing if and only if it’s not meant as a community organizing tool !!! When you are using it to bring people together, one must always make sure that it does more good than harm! People hide under the gise that just because art is not meant for everyone it doesn’t matter who it impacts but that an incorrect perception!!! Your personal art is simply that!! Your community art is for everyone so taking into context what people think or cultural relevance is equally as important!!!

The form of an artistic community is supposed to be clearly alive now. Never rely on leaders because they are likely disconnected from the community. It is more helpful to ask feedback from the people than from the board. #dyslexicthinking #humanbirthrights

Looking at insights on social media is very helpful to learn which mediums, techniques, images etc resonate with your community.

Timing and Context has impact but if the vision statement is not clear in its cultural expression this is way more important for the function. All success is dependent on being in the right time and right space and we have no control over this. #dyslexicthinking #humanbirthrights

Make expression a pillar of your community and ask regularly for contributions from community members. We regularly host expressive centered events.

Art as a human manifestation is deeply rooted in the visions and prospects of a community. It is an ineffable significant indication of what is to come, of the attitude with which some processes are being observed. Give an important diagnosis about your work and that of your project. It is not always good to incorporate it because the richness of the criticism would be lost there. I would say that you have to give a certain institutional space to the demonstrations and collective dreams but it is also an important traffic light that guides you on certain perspectives that your project is generating in certain community areas. We must look for ways to coexist without losing its wealth

Get started in your community by connecting with other organizations to improve life and wellbeing for everyone. Offer events that give people an opportunity to participate. Fundraising for a community service is a huge opportunity to include the arts. As a fundraising event, include visual artists, literary artists, talent programs, dance and musical arts. Open the event to all kinds of talent. Give a percentage of sales, exhibiting booth fees, entry fees, etc. to a nonprofit service group. Art auctions, workshops, and exhibitions are a great way to bring attention to your local artists and performers. Be kind, have integrity, and know your worth.

I have a perspective on capacity building when it looks like it’s just sowing seeds and reaping the harvest but you first must empower someone to sell the seeds and that takes a little bit of time because you have to analyze what people can do and then give them the lead and then support them and then as we all grow we will do the work
