1 Passive GPS

Passive GPS is a type of GPS technology that records the location, speed, and direction of a vehicle at regular intervals, but does not transmit the data in real time. This passive GPS technology is hurtling towards extinction with the advent of Smart Phones - the cheapest of which already has GPS information. This info can be shared with others either voluntarily or through background tracking with many Apps - such as WhatsApp

In my experience this is the only effective technology for managing large fleets and the money spent on outfitting all the vehicles more than pays for itself. The advantages of Geo Fencing, longer than allowed halts and many other insights make the technology a good ROI risk.
