What are the different types of e-learning platforms and how can you choose the right one?

Speaking from a perspective of an educator, an LMS should be an all-encompassing solution. 1. It should help the educator access content in the classroom pertaining to the topic being taught. 2. The content which is taught should have a testing plan which should be made available immediately after the topic is taught. 3. Quick analysis of the tests should be given to the educator which signify the understanding level of the students. It also helps in assessing the learning outcomes of the topic. 4. Feedback or remedial teaching strategies should be worked upon after analyzing the feedback. This should be possible via a personalized learning path. 5. For minor students, parents should be kept in the loop with all the activities done.

In education we often think of science fiction AI as a revolution that will replace teacher-led education. However, the role of teachers will keep evolving just like it has from passive to active learning. In adaptive learning it's important to consider that one of the risks is standardization, so it's important to pick adaptive learning systems that are flexible and easily customizable by teachers because they are the only ones that know students first-hand, so providing them with tools that are intuitive and easy to implement will keep placing individual student needs above standardization.

One of the things that maybe is not exploit enough is data analytics. The platform you have should provide a good tool on data analytics on any learner - competencies level, performence level, learning results, learning preferences …. Using the data you can tailor custom learning experices.

From a primary schooling perspective, after all the technology, what matters most is content. No doubt that the technology has to be easy to use, accessible, responsive, mobile friendly and adaptive. But, what the student learns from is the content, and how it is presented in an engaging manner, and educator led. Pure tech play does not work in primary education. What needs to be done is empowering the educator with the right content at the right time, so that the educator can engage with students and deliver awesome learning outcomes.

In my experience so far where I have deployed LMS for Institutions and Cooperates organizations. I believe it all depends on the specifics of what the client wants and what application is best suited for it. In Nigeria we are conversant with the likes LMS and LCMS. However in the use case we misinterpret the purpose of both applications.
