"Data is a company's greatest asset", someone once said. However, what we see is that each company, each tool, each department stores, consumes and distributes data differently. In the arduous process of bringing together multiple data sources, we need to start discussing whether this is the best process to perform, or whether we are just repeating a process that shouldn't even exist. Standardizing the data source format, despite being something very far away today, needs to be on professionals' radar every day.

I enjoy using both Tableau and Microsoft Power BI for my data visualizations. Tableau is very good with large amounts of data but it is on the slower end compared to Microsoft Power BI. Whereas Power BI can become slow due to the quantity of data. I'm more inclined towards using Tableau because of how user friendly and intuitive it is among other things. My choice of chart, colors and labels always depend on the below factors - Type of data that I'm working with - The end user/audience to whom the visualizations will be presented to.

For this very reason, I enroll myself into several online courses on Udemy to refresh my knowledge on the old skills that I already possess and learn any new skill which can be relevant to my work or can help me get to the next level. As part of this process, I became Tableau Desktop Specialist certified this week after month long preparation. I have been learning Python as well to sharpen my data skills.

When I show results of my analysis, sometimes the audience reacts with one of two refusals: 1–They already knew that so my work brings no value, or 2- They never saw that before so they don’t believe me.
