My biggest observation is the maintenance involved in our apps over the past 20 years. OVERSIGHT number 1 is to assume the App will ever be completed - it will constantly evolve and require maintenence. You can not and will not think of everything to be the best app, but clients will help the evolution/demand better than any experts. Be sure have a GO TO MARKET plan and be prepared for the real work - getting noticed and gaining traction is a busy market place - everyone I run into has an GOOD idea for app but most stop there - think it thru and go for it
