Being very comfortable with concepts like subnetting and VPN's, common services and protocols for things like DHCP, SMTP, SSH, etc will make cloud networking much easier. Network + gives a good overview of this as well as the OSI model which is also very valuable in relation to this and knowing which protocols operate on which layer. However, unlike typical hardware intrusions, you cannot disconnect the Cloud from the Internet to mitigate the damages; hence why it is crucial to harden your cloud infrastructure as much as possible. Employing a Managed Detection and Response (MDR) system is fantastic start, but it'll do nothing if everyone can see everything, which is why following the Principle of Least Privilege (or PoLP) should come into play early in the design phase. By locking away information to those who need to see it, if one of your lower level employees gets compromised, you've mitigated integral data loss already! Also, remember to do (and test!) backups often!

There are certifications for each platform and I would suggest doing the entry level for AWS, Google and Azure just to gain some general familiarity. I work primarily in Azure and I am very familiar with it and navigate it quickly but Google/AWS not as much but I am comfortable in each. The more exposure you can get to working with the management platforms hands on, especially ones specifically related to your role or career goals, the better you can utilize them. The Microsoft AZ900 and MD102 are very good at covering basic Azure stuff & Microsoft Intune/Endpoint Manager. For AWS look into AWS Cloud Certified Practitioner or Associate level if you have some experience in IT. For Google look into Cloud Digital Leader or Cloud Engineer.

Many platforms allow demo/trial accounts and this combined with a test/home lab, can allow you to do a migration without impacting any valuable data. Be familiar with the process down to each step so that when issues arise they are easily identified and addressed in a prescribed manner as outlined in the planning stage.
